Grandad George's War

Today we had a visitor called Christine who came to talk about her grandad. He fought in WWI (our topic)!

We were shown a picture of Grandad George who was a private and he earned four medals!

She showed us a diagram of no mans land, which between the trenches of the allies and the central powers.

Throughout the talk she read stories out of a diary, which belonged to Grandad George.

Then she read a poem, which was written by a WWI officer.

She showed us a book, which included people who lived and died during the war. There was lots of pages of deceased soldiers and only a few pages of survivors.

Finally Christine showed us a dog tag belonging to Grandad George! Some soldiers didn't have dog tags with their names on, so when they died they could not be identified.
